Help PLZ

You need a VFW version of Xvid installed. If I remember correctly, CCCP and probably a number of other codec packs use ffdshow, so all you need to do is see if you have a folder for ffdshow somewhere in your Start Menu, then call up the VFW configuration option, and enable Xvid decoding go to Codecs, and set Xvid to be decoded using libavcodec, since you don t seem to have the Xvid codec itself installed.

Edit: I d actually recommend installing the regular Xvid codec over using ffdshow to decode Xvid just follow the automatic link above, but I can t be sure if that would clash with any of the codec packs you ve installed. Also, are you sure you want to be using an older version of VirtualDub. The latest versions are 1.6.19 and 1.7.2 experimental.

Edit 2: I m confused - in your other post, you say you re using VirtualDub 1.7.2, but here, you say 1.4c.

If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them.

Or get rid of the codec packs and install the correct codecs.

I m really sorry to make two post for the same thing

Ai Haibara

your way is to hard to do

and i didn t know that there was a newer version of virtualdub

isn t there a simpler one

BTW i will install any think that i need

and i installed Xvid codec 1.1.3.they are working with windows media player.

Ai Haibara

i forgot to say thanks for the help

Try using AVI Fourcc Code Changer and make sure the fourcc codes are xvid all lower case on the top, XVID all upper case on the bottom

I tried a cuople of things and one wotked but this is my problem now

The VBR MP3 problem is addressed in a million threads here.

Can you give me a useful link

This guide uses older versions of Virtualdub, GSpot and Goldwave.

If you don t have Goldwave, you can skip step 5 through step 8 and just reinsert the uncompressed wave back into Virtualdub. This will work on most VBR files but Goldwave may have to be used on some.

You can also use a program called Avidemux that will rewrite the header and timecode of the damaged AVI and will fix most VBR files. There will be some files that it won t fix and you ll need to fix manually the Virtualdub way.

Another thing that usually works is to use VirtualDubMod instead of VirtualDub. When VirtualDubMod opens the file it will ask if you want to rewrite the header -- answer NO. Then use full processing mode on the audio and recompress to CBR MP3 or whatever other codec you want.

Lets look at this from another angle..

I open virtualdubmod open mpg

Streams stream list rt click on stream full processing mode rt click again on that stream compression

This is the root of the problem i think. I am unable to get any newly installed codecs to show up in this window. I have lame installed and a few others. They are not here tho.

There is one called MPEG Layer-3, when i check the show all formats box, nothing is displayed in the window.

I read that using 32 bit codecs in a 64 bit os wont work. Is this the problem.

Please help

please delete the above and this one. I replied to wrong post..

sorry.

VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows Vfw compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not.
